The Huntington Endowment for Library Development was started thanks to the gift of an anonymous donor. An endowment is a fund that exists to ensure the financial support of an organization—the Huntington Public Library, in this case. The money in the fund is invested, and the goal is to use only the accrued interest for needed support and expenses. In this way, the endowment is intended to support the Library in perpetuity.
