Programs for Children and Babies

We like to start them on books young here at the Huntington Public Library! Reading is a lifelong habit that can create wonderful connection time between children and their caregivers, and between children of all ages. The HPL has a variety of programs and offerings for children and their caregivers.

Story Hour and Playgroup

Join us for story hour and play group every Friday from 10–11 a.m. A librarian or guest will share a story and provide an activity. This weekly gathering is an easy way to meet others in the community with similar-aged children. Story time typically begins around 10:45.

Lego Club

Fridays 2:30–4:30 p.m. Join other LEGO® fans for a fun afternoon with your friends, and have a little snack. We also have puzzles and drawing supplies for those who need a break from LEGO. ((note—are legos provided? Or BYO?)

Baby Brunch

In January every year, the Friends of the Huntington Public Library hosts a brunch for the parents of new babies born during the previous 12 months! This special tradition is a wonderful way to meet and greet the other new parents, and has created many lifelong bonds.

Baby Book Dedication

Along with the baby brunch, every new baby born in Huntington receives a book dedication. This is again thanks to the generous work of the Friends of the HPL. A special nameplate is added to the beginning of the book, and children can come back and check out “their” book as they get older.
